Ilfracombe (England)

Ilfracombe from Capstone Hill

GB-243853

Ilfracombe is a seaside resort and civil parish on the North Devon coast, England with a small harbour, surrounded by cliffs.
The parish stretches along the coast from 'The Coastguard Cottages' in Hele Bay toward the east and 4 miles along The Torrs to Lee Bay toward the west.
The actor Peter Sellers first set foot on stage here, and the Collins sisters (Joan and Jackie) went to school in the town whilst evacuees from the Blitz. Henry Williamson, author of Tarka the Otter, lived in Brittania Row for many years and is commemorated with a blue plaque.
