Melanie Leopoldina Koehler-Broman (Austrian, 1885–1960) was best known as Mela Koehler. She studied with designer Koloman Moser, who later cofounded the Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop), a cooperative enterprise for architects, artists, and artisans inspired by the British Arts and Crafts movement. Koehler—a designer of graphic works, fabrics, and ceramics, as well as an illustrator—stood out as one of the workshop's stars. Koehler created about 150 fashion postcards.
